Pictured here is a sculpture and landmark which is situated at the top of the road leading down into the village and also near to the car park which visitors are advised to use instead of taking their vehicles onto the perilously steep incline. The location is Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire, England.
The Signal Sculpture at Saltburn-by-the-Sea in Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England. The sculpture is set in the Valley Gardens beside Skelton Beck and was erected in 2001 by the new Saltburn Improvement Company. The artists of this unique sculpture were Hilary Cartmel and Michael Johnson and its purpose is to recognize the importance of the railways on this area. The Signal Sculpture was constructed from a variety of replicas from the steam age and it incorporates a wide range of materials including stainless steel, bronze and brass castings, nickel and glass.
A dead tree carving of Neptune Sea God at Charlestown in Cornwall, England. The tree carving, which is located on the corner of a roadside and a private driveway in Charlestown, was commissioned by Sarita and Jason Miller and was carved by Peter Martin. A plaque on the carving states that all donations to the collection box will be given to the Little Harbour Children's Hospice. Neptune was the mythological god of freshwater and the sea in Roman religion. This wood carving shows the head of Neptune surrounded by fish and various sea creatures.
An unusual scene, of concrete sculptured to depict fossils, at the top of the East Pier slipway, at Whitby, North Yorkshire, England. The rocks in this area of the Yorkshire Coast, are famous for their fossils.
The Wight Dragon by Newport designer Glenn Martin. Students from Clatterford Tuition Centre helped construct the sculpture using recycled materials. He stands 4.5 metres high by 3 metres with illuminated eyes, and is being displayed on Coppins Bridge, Newport, Isle of Wight for the summer of 2010.
