The Signal Sculpture, Saltburn

The Signal Sculpture at Saltburn-by-the-Sea in Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England. The sculpture is set in the Valley Gardens beside Skelton Beck and was erected in 2001 by the new Saltburn Improvement Company. The artists of this unique sculpture were Hilary Cartmel and Michael Johnson and its purpose is to recognize the importance of the railways on this area. The Signal Sculpture was constructed from a variety of replicas from the steam age and it incorporates a wide range of materials including stainless steel, bronze and brass castings, nickel and glass.
