Magpies Keeping Watch, Pendennis Point
Two common magpies (Pica pica), keeping watch at Pendennis Point, Falmouth in Cornwall, England. The two birds were using an information board, entitled "Watching the Waterline", as a perch. I saw them return to this board many times. The Point is a favourite spot for locals and visitors to watch ships and boats and the birds were watching for any food particles being dropped by the people.

The lanner falcon is a bird which prefers the open countryside; it hunts by horizontal pursuit and takes mainly small bird prey in flight. This powerful bird of prey can be found as far north as the central and eastern Mediterranean and throughout most of Africa. It feeds on birds ranging in size from larks up to the size of ducks and guinea fowl, sometimes domestic poultry and even other falcons. It will also take small mammals, rodents, bats, insects, occasionally carrion and even spiders and scorpions in deserts.

Ostrich, The Sharp End
This ostrich was a reluctant subject. It was behind a low fence, but each time I raised my camera to take a picture, its head would swoop down and peck at my lens. After about 20 minutes, I finally got the shot I wanted. The location was east of Southern Cyprus, near the UN buffer zone, overlooking Famagusta.
