(The largest being Pearl Harbour in Hawaii and the second largest is Mahon Harbour in Menorca). The view here is looking towards the docks, which had two Royal Navy ships stationed there during my visit.

Whitby Bell Buoy

Whitby Bell Buoy is a navigation buoy situated three-quarters of a mile from Whitby harbour entrance. Dangerous sea conditions can occur at the entrance to the harbour, and there are set navigational instructions on how vessels should approach the buoy and on which side it should be passed, for a safe passage into the harbour. The buoy has a bell which swings in bad weather and its beacon flashes at night.

This is the point where the main street ends in a slipway to the ocean. At low tide around three miles of beach are exposed, but the tide turns rapidly and can catch out the unwary. At high tide the ocean comes nearly all the way up the slipway, and during storms it can even creep up the main street. The location is Robin Hood's Bay, North Yorkshire, England.

I had just surfaced by the harbour wall to find this boat bearing down on me. The family were just returning from a trip and I was in their way. They wanted to get to their mooring and they began shouting and waving at me just after I took this picture. I quickly swam out of the way. The location is Na Macaret on the north coast of Menorca, Spain.
