Beached Fishing Boats At Beer

Fishing boats beached on the shingle at the tiny south coast fishing village of Beer in East Devon, England. Beyond the boats, the view takes in the sweep of rocky cliffs leading towards Beer Head. In contrast to the brightly coloured boats, the calm featureless ocean of Lyme Bay and the overcast sky almost merged into one, making the horizon barely visible.

RFA Argus at Falmouth Docks

RFA Argus (A135), berthed at Duchy Wharf, photographed in 2013 at Falmouth Docks in Cornwall, England. Argus is a ship of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and is operated by the MoD. She is Italian-built and was formerly a container ship before being requisitioned for service in the Falklands War in 1982. The ship was purchased by the MoD in 1984 for use as an Aviation Training Ship, and then in 1991 she was fitted out as a fully functional hospital for service in the Gulf War.

Since 2009, providing hospital facilities as a Primary Casualty Receiving Ship is now her main role.

The MV Princessa in Falmouth Harbour, Cornwall, England. The boat was pictured as she leaft the Prince of Wales Pier, Falmouth, for a cruise. The MV Princessa, which can carry 101 passengers, once operated as a Portsmouth ferry, but since 1986, she has been based at Falmouth. Her main function now, is to carry tourists and locals, on a pleasure cruise out into Falmouth Bay and into the Helford Estuary, then up the Helford River as far as Frenchman's Creek. Across the far side of the harbour can be seen the coastline of Flushing.

RFA Mounts Bay, alongside Queen's Wharf, in Falmouth Docks at Falmouth, Cornwall, England. The ship was photographed from a small boat in the harbour. RFA Mounts Bay is one of the three Bay Class ships in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. Mounts Bay's main task is to supply Royal Navy warships with fuel, stores, ammunition and food, at sea and it also provides an amphibious assault platform for the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines.
