Bembridge Lifeboat Station - #1 by Rod Johnson

Bembridge Lifeboat Station - #1

Bembridge Lifeboat Station at the village of Bembridge near to the eastern tip of the Isle of Wight, England. This view through the foliage shows the long gangway which stands high above the beach, supported by piles, the recently refurbished main boathouse and the steep slipway. This magnificent building, houses a Tamar class all-weather lifeboat, RNLB Alfred Albert Williams.

A second boathouse on the shore, houses an inshore lifeboat. The scene also shows a glimpse of the distant shoreline of Portsmouth on the far side of the Solent. The relief boat, RNLB Frank and Anne Wilkinson was temporarily in service here when I visited previously in August 2015.
