Whitby Bell Buoy by Rod Johnson

Whitby Bell Buoy

Whitby Bell Buoy is a navigation buoy situated three-quarters of a mile from Whitby harbour entrance. Dangerous sea conditions can occur at the entrance to the harbour, and there are set navigational instructions on how vessels should approach the buoy and on which side it should be passed, for a safe passage into the harbour. The buoy has a bell which swings in bad weather and its beacon flashes at night.
