Saltburn Cliff Tramway, Top Station

The top station of the famous Cliff Tramway at Saltburn-by-the-Sea in Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England. The now renowned water balanced Cliff Lift, which it is also known by, is one of the oldest in the world. It was opened in 1870 and provides transport between the town and the pier. A tramcar is waiting at the top station and on the right, a workman is pictured carrying out repairs to the promenade railings.
