Cyclists on the Headstone Viaduct by Rod Johnson

Cyclists on the Headstone Viaduct

Cyclists on the Monsal Trail, crossing the Headstone Viaduct, near to Monsal Head in Derbyshire, England. The viaduct, which spans the rocky valley of Monsal Dale, once provided a vital link for the Midland Railway, between Buxton and Bakewell, from 1867 until it closed in 1968. The rail link has since been dismantled and instead, the viaduct now forms part of the Monsal Trail, which is popular with cyclists and walkers. Many people take a break once they reach the viaduct, to enjoy the magnificent views of the valley and the River Wye.
