The Dartmouth - Kingswear (Lower Ferry) arriving at the Ferry Slip in Dartmouth, Devon, England. This scene, captured in the rain, shows one of the ferries preparing to disembark on the Dartmouth side of the River Dart, it was carrying several cars and a couple of passengers. Another ferry operating on the same route can be seen on the far side of the river at the Kingswear Slipway. The ferries are operated by unpowered pontoons which are pushed and pulled by a tug boat across this tidal river.

Steam locomotive 76079 standing at Pickering Station, Pickering in North Yorkshire, England. This ex British Railways locomotive BR 76079 is a Standard Class 4MT 2-6-0. It was designed by Robert Riddles and was built in 1957 at the Horwich works. The locomotive now hauls a very popular passenger service on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which is a heritage railway.

The top station of the famous Cliff Tramway at Saltburn-by-the-Sea in Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England. The now renowned water balanced Cliff Lift, which it is also known by, is one of the oldest in the world. It was opened in 1870 and provides transport between the town and the pier. A tramcar is waiting at the top station and on the right, a workman is pictured carrying out repairs to the promenade railings.

The viaduct, which once provided a vital link across the valley for the Midland Railway, is now one of the main attractions along the trail.
