Baslow Bridge and Toll Shelter by Rod Johnson

Baslow Bridge and Toll Shelter

A view across the ancient three arch Baslow Bridge, which spans the River Derwent, in the village of Baslow, Derbyshire, England. This narrow, stone road bridge, which dates from the 17th century, has what is believed to be a toll collector's shelter, built into the side of the bridge. The tiny toll shelter has two portholes and a doorway which is little more than 3ft, (1m) high. I took this photo when people were walking across, to give a sense of scale to scene.
